Redemptive Suffering: Value and Meaning: A Catholic perspective

 

Why do I suffer?  Why do others suffer?  How can suffering be overcome?  Is there meaning to suffering?

 

 

Presentation and Discussion, Led by George Toman, Ed. S 7-8pm

National Day of Prayer

 

Join NCPD in a Prayer Service on the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding October 4 at either 3pm or 7pm Eastern.  This is a chance for persons with mental illness, their families and friends to join in prayer especially in places where no other prayer service is planned or for those who cannot easily get to a prayer service.  Join us for an experience of prayer and community. The Prayer Service will be available for download on the NCPD homepage before the service.  If you register below (optional) we will email you a pdf of the prayer service beforehand.

Welcomed and Valued: Panel discussion on how our church can Suuport people with mental illness

 

Panelists include:

 

Mary Ann Warner, BA, MHR Retired Mental Health Rehab Coordinator, St. Cecilia Parishioner

Dr. Lee Wigert, clergy, mental health professional, person with a mental illness

Sharyl Gilles – NAMI Family Support

Dr. Eve Rosno- Catholic Social Services

 

6:30-7:30pm Light Snacks and beverages will be served

 

Wednesday, October 5

 

Depression Screening Lunch and Learn for HCS and CCD staff and faculty.  Professional development day.

 

Thursday, October 6th

 

Depression Screening Day- parish nurses available to assist with screening, in person, at the Health Ministry Office.

 

Call 402-469-7845 to schedule at private time to meet with a Parish Nurse, or go to the parish website and request a meeting.

 

Resources available in pews during Parish Holy Hour about National Depression Screening Day.
